The Team

Gregory Austin McConnell – Founder of Tempest Pictures. With a passion for all things film, Austin is a talented and versatile member of the team; considered a “triple threat” with his abilities extending through preproduction, production, and postproduction. Austin is an accomplished writer, authoring in several published works. He is also an experienced actor, appearing in several film festivals across the country. In 2008, Austin took home the award for Best Male Performance at Missouri’s SATO 48 Film Competition, for his role of “Jack” in the Tempest Pictures entry “Syringe“. Austin is skilled in postproduction as well, proficient in several different editing and compositing software packages, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, 3DStudio, SmithMicro Poser, and Newtek’s SpeedEdit HD.

Austin has a keen interest in all kinds of activities, and craves adventure. In his free time, Austin enjoys writing, pool, video games, driving, music, and shows particular fondness for the game of Monopoly. If Austin wasn’t involved in film, he’d most likely take to cross-country racing, because working at a fast food restaurant “doesn’t quite pay the bills.”

Austin is available online at his official website, austinmcconnell.com.

Lance Little – A long time friend of Austin McConnell, Lance has been working with most aspects of video since he was eight years old. Lance is relatively new to the work force, but certainly does not come without experience. In addition to assisting in the winning film “Syringe” for the 2008 Springfield and the Ozarks 48 Hour Film Competition, and attaining a national ranking in the 2008 SkillsUSA Television/Video Production, Lance has been producing programs for KOZK and Ozark Public Television for going on two years. He has also produced numerous public presentations, music videos, educational videos, weddings, and other special events. He specializes in video/picture restoration, and motion graphics. Lance’s favorite software includes: Adobe After Effects, Sony Vegas, Adobe Photoshop, Sony Acid, and DVD Architect Studio.

Aside from working endlessly on personal video projects, Lance enjoys paintball, daydreaming, making music tracks and graphics, talking to himself and making faces in the mirror, long drives with the windows down with loud music, and maybe a close friend to help decide where to go.

Lance is hoping to launch his personal studio and website soon, with links provided by Tempest Pictures when available.

Vincent Rouse – In 2003 Vince moved back from California to Missouri to finish school. Vincent has been actively involved in making films for a large portion of his life and is skilled in several well rounded principles extending through the production phase. Vincent specializes in all areas related to acting and directing, but has on numerous occasions assisted in writing and overall story revisions. Vincent is known for his highly effective set running, making sure all key components are taken care of, and keeping to a strict and efficient time table. Often noted as the guy who “gets things done”, he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty if it means making a great film. In a few instances he has been considered to be the exact definition of a Gemini; having a harsh and critiquing attitude on set, but completely generous and supporting off set. He makes it a rule of
thumb to never sacrifice the quality of a shot just to make things simpler. A filmmaker that holds a strong passion for old school techniques, Vincent provides ingenious (and often unorthodox) techniques for accomplishing difficult tasks and scenes without slowing production time. In many instances, Vincent’s presence has helped speed many projects along, and helps to keep Tempest Pictures a well-oiled machine. In 2008, Vincent won the awards for Best Sound and Best Directing with Austin at the 2008 SATO 48 Film Competition.

Aside from film making, Vincent enjoys concerts, music, video games, writing, and adventure. He never passes up an opportunity for a new experience, and doesn’t mind “telling it like it is” (receiving the nickname “Common Sense”) to get his point across.

Vincent has truly been a wonderful asset to Tempest Pictures. From providing business and project opportunities, to helping wrap up a film in need, Vincent constantly shows his love for the art of film making by sticking with the project from beginning to end.
